The Obvious

Another great photo by Allison Cordner, didn't know what to call this one, so Vickie suggested "I *heart* Pink" which is very true... and since it's for my All About Me album, I couldn't leave an important fact like that out! Thanks for the help V, and for showing me how to write nicely ;)

How To: Altered Prima Jewelry Box

Required Products:
Empty Box from a Prima Embellie Box
Patterned Paper
Adhesive
Co-coordinating acrylic paints
Skewer sticks
Foam (I used the foam from an Imaginisce brad package)

Step 1:
Cut your patterned paper and foam down to size, to fit into the divided areas.
For the foam I used a strong liquid adhesive.

Step 2:
Cut your skewers to size, paint desired color.
Once the paint is dry glue into place (I used Lepage's No More Nails)

Step 3:
Cut slits into foam for rings, if desired.
Earrings can be poked right into the foam

Step 4:
I distressed the edges of the box with sandpaper, then finger-painted on some blue paint that matched my patterned paper.

Thursday is MY night!

Did it ever feel good to finish work early today and rush home. I had time to pick up shampoo and conditioner, and swiffers... now that I have a cat again, I remember how much I love swiffer products!

Then I watched Wednesday night's "So You Think You Can Dance" then I scrapbooked. Yes... I... as in myself, Samantha Star, scrapbooked a page for myself... then I watched the result show for So You Think You Can Dance, and ate a cupcake... or two... (I WAS NOT happy about the guy who got kicked off by the way, let me know what you think!)

Then... it happened again, I scrapbooked another page! Awesome! I uploaded them along with a page I did yesterday... yes... 3 pages in 2 days! Here they are:

I was toying with the idea of somehow putting my blog on scrapbookstar.ca... then I couldn't figure out how... then I asked why I was doing it again... then I thought it was less of a good idea... then I ate a cupcake...

I've been so busy lately, so tonight was nice, to slow down... Brendan actually went to bed before me, and I went in to say goodnight and he said "I missed you" and at first I was like "What is this guy talking about, we see each other all the time" but then I realized... us rushing around is not good time spent together... us eating cupcakes and talking about our day is great... wish I had a photo of that!

With that I say goodnight, I hope your Friday is as great as my Thursday was... (in fact I hope my Friday is that good too!) ;)

Can't hide my feelings tonight...

After tomorrow, my family will no longer own the house I lived in, from the time I was 11 until the time I moved out. It's the longest we've ever lived in one place, and this house, was supposed to be the house my parents were going to grow old in.

One of the last memories I have of my grandmother, is her sitting on the sofa next to me on Christmas morning, in that house, the one where our last real Christmas was celebrated years ago, before people started growing up, and moving on... I guess my fear of losing the house is losing the good memories I had there, the precious ones I've been able to cling on to, with time.

Life is what it is. When it gives you lemons, you make lemonade... It's been a year of ups and lemonade for me, but I can't dwell, I have to be happy for what I do have:
A succesful business
Amazing friends
Ambition, inspiration, motivation
my health, and the health of those I love
It's been a year of reconnecting with people I had lost touch with
and creating stronger bonds with those who are important to me

One down...

On Monday the crew from WatchMojo came to the store to shoot our first clip, on very basic scrapbooking. I talked a lot about different trimmers, adhesives and all that jazz. I'm curious to see what the finished product will look like, it should be up in about a week. We have two more segments scheduled and then she said "We'll see how it goes" which I interpreted as "If you're horrible on camera, three segments is enough"

I think I did well, I don't really get freaked out by cameras in general... It takes a lot to make me REALLY nervous. I will share it with everyone when I'm done. I also hope to have the rest of my scrapbook room pieced together in the next few weeks, I'm just waiting on a Clip-it-up... the one I had saved for myself is currently being used in the store for liquidation purposes... so once I have that in place, I'll be ready to take photos!

Other awesome news - my cat Cosgrove is coming home! My chubby baby (who is now 8) will certainly keep life interesting (and maybe even stressful) for Brendan and I who has never lived with an animal that wasn't caged (like my hammy) She should be coming home on Father's day... I'll take LOADS of photos!!!!
